Building a supportive and thriving team
Heard (formerly On Road Media) works alongside people on programmes in areas such as poverty, climate action, sexual violence and domestic abuse, transgender experiences, children’s palliative care and migration.
Heard is a charity connecting people with direct experience with the media to inspire content and communication that changes hearts and minds. The charity supports people to get the best out of media engagements, using insights from research to help storytellers land their message and engage audiences in a way that shifts perspectives.
I joined Heard when there were just two members of staff. Spending over a decade with the warm team at Heard, I helped design the charity’s first programmes, achieving funding, facilitating events with our peer communities and interactions with media professionals. The project management role developed into an internally-focused Head of Operations and People role with an emphasis on building a supportive and inclusive culture with a thriving team.
